Course description

The middle distance of the Aasee Triathlon in Bocholt, held for the 37th time in 2026, most recently over a 2 km swim, 90 km bike and 20 km run. The swim is in the Aasee lake at the leisure centre, and the start, finish, transition and service area are all together at the festival meadow. The bike course covers three laps, mostly on the B67 federal road towards Borken, which is fully closed to traffic on race day. The run is eight laps of 2.5 km by the Aasee, and the organiser describes all courses as flat.

Coach tip

2 km in the Aasee lake, starting at 8:30 am according to the countdown on the website. In 2026 the race briefing 15 minutes before the start was compulsory. Bring your own swim cap in a bright, conspicuous colour: since 2026 the organiser no longer provides caps, and dark caps can get you disqualified.

In 2026 the bike was three out-and-back laps on the closed B67: count your own laps, because the organiser holds you jointly responsible for that. Drafting is not allowed and there was one aid station per lap — plan your bottles for 30 km. The DTU rules on bottle cages were tightened in 2025: check your bike before check-in.

Eight flat run laps of 2.5 km, in 2026 with two aid stations per lap. In 2026 bike check-in was only possible on race morning from 7 am, and the B67 is closed from 6:30 am — plan your journey via the diversion. Registration opens on 13 December 2026 at 12 noon; in 2026 the middle distance (limit 290) sold out.
