Austria Triathlon Podersdorf Full Distance

September 4, 2027 Podersdorf am See, Österreich
← Back to calendar

Course description

Austria's oldest long-distance triathlon, held at Lake Neusiedl since 1988 and in its 40th edition in 2027. Since 2022 the swim has not been in the lake itself but in the bathing lake of the St. Martins Therme: four 950 m laps with a land exit after each. The bike course is fully closed and completely flat — half a lap to Podersdorf, then five 31.4 km laps via Frauenkirchen and the Darscho-Lacke. The marathon covers four laps of a paved out-and-back course along the lake into the Podersdorf "Hölle". Flat and fast, but the Seewinkel wind can make every lap hard.

Coach tip

The course is completely flat, but the Seewinkel is windy: what the tailwind gives you on the way out, the way back takes. Ride to power, not speed, and train long sessions in the aero position.

After each of the four swim laps you leave the water briefly and go back in — practise that in open water. Wetsuits are allowed up to 24.5°C. If the water at the exit is too shallow to swim, you may run the last metres.

Cut-offs: swim 2:15 h, swim and bike 10 h, finish closes at 10 pm. Split the marathon into its four 10.5 km laps and plan fuelling and pace lap by lap.
