Course description
The fastest of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors and a legendary world-record course — the stage for record runs by Kipchoge and Assefa. It hardly gets flatter or faster: wide, straight boulevards lead across all of Berlin to the famous finish through the Brandenburg Gate.
Coach tip
- Run the blue ideal line consistently — it's the shortest officially measured route and saves precious metres. Don't get carried away in the huge starting field; pace yourself evenly. Take on carbohydrates early and regularly at the 15 aid stations along the way.
