Course description
A long-distance race on the Red Sea in late January: a swim in the Gulf of Eilat, followed by a bike course that climbs from sea level into the Negev desert. A winter-season classic and one of very few full-distance races in the first quarter.
Coach tip
The long climb out of Eilat comes early and lasts — ride it well below the power you would target on a flat long-distance race.
Late January means training through the European winter: plan your long rides onto the trainer or into a training camp in good time.
Temperatures swing sharply between the water, the desert and the altitude — test your clothing strategy on a cold day beforehand.
