Course description
A legendary Dutch half marathon (since 1973) held in early January at Egmond aan Zee. The first seven kilometres run along the North Sea beach before the course climbs into the rolling dunes of the North Holland Dune Reserve. Wind, rain and cold turn it into a battle against the elements.
Coach tip
- Don't expect a PB: loose sand and the often fierce headwind on the beach sap huge amounts of energy. Mind the tides and run the beach section tightly in a group for shelter. The dunes get more technical and undulating — ration your strength all the way to the lighthouse finish.
