Course description

An autumn marathon in Ulm and Neu-Ulm on both banks of the Danube. From the start at the exhibition grounds the course runs twice through both city centres, past the Pfuhler See and across the Danube at the Offenhausen footbridge, to the finish on the Münsterplatz at the foot of the tallest church spire in the world. The organiser describes only minimal height differences, around 100 metres of climbing; plenty of bands along the course keep the mood up.

Coach tip

Around 100 metres of climbing over 42 km: the course is flat enough for a PB. You pass through the city centres twice — take the first lap deliberately easy, the second over familiar ground is the harder part mentally.

The finish closes at 3:00 pm; with the 9:10 am start (2026) that is 5:50 hours — around 8:15 min/km on average. You must reach the marathon split at km 15.8 within 2:30 hours, or you are sent onto the half marathon course.

The organiser does not accept personal nutrition: the 16 aid stations offer water, isotonic drinks and bars. Test that mix in training or carry your own gels.
