Course description
A mythical, brutally hard long-distance triathlon in the French Alps. It starts at dawn in the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, followed by a roughly 188 km bike leg over the legendary Col d'Izoard at 2,360 m. A hilly marathon rounds off one of the toughest triathlons in the world.
Coach tip
- Patience on the bike: the long mountain leg takes forever — ride the Izoard in a sustainable gear and keep eating. Wetsuits are often not permitted, so practise open-water swimming without one. The hilly marathon lands on tired legs; start it deliberately conservatively.
