Course description
A half marathon through the centre of Mainz. The start is on Große Bleiche right beside the Electoral Palace, which is also where the finish sits. Kilometres 2 to 5 follow the Rhine past the state chancellery, the regional parliament and the Theodor Heuss Bridge, before the route turns through the Neustadt and Mombach districts and back into the old town. Mainz Cathedral arrives just before kilometre 19. A flat, fast course with a three-hour cut-off.
Coach tip
Flat and fast — a personal best is realistic here, but do not get carried away along the Rhine between kilometres 2 and 5. The long stretch through the Neustadt and Mombach districts is the quietest part of the course, so hold an even pace there. From the cathedral at kilometre 19 the city centre carries you to the finish.
