Course description
A middle distance with a 1.9 km swim in the Blausteinsee, 88 km on the bike over two laps and a 20 km run over four laps through Aldenhoven, finishing in the Roemerpark. The bike course runs on service roads straight through the Inden open-cast mine to the Weisweiler power station — 461 metres of climbing with a few steep climbs. Swim and run venues are apart, with separate transition areas.
Coach tip
The mine holds a few steep climbs: ride them with a power cap rather than by feel, or you will pay for it on the run.
The run is 20 km, not 21.1 — plan your pace for the shorter distance, but do not let it tempt you into a fast start.
The swim and run are at different venues with separate transitions: read the check-in times for T1 and T2 carefully and plan your travel around them.
