Course description
The half marathon at the Baden-Marathon, on the same Sunday and from the same start as the marathon. From the Europahalle the course heads into the city centre past the ZKM, along the Kriegsstraße and Ostring to Durlach, back through the Oststadt and the Citypark Ost, past Karlsruhe Palace and across the Marktplatz, then via Beiertheim and the Günther-Klotz-Anlage to the finish in the Carl-Kaufmann-Stadion. The organiser describes it as flat and fast, measured to German athletics federation (DLV) rules. Up to km 14 a minimum pace of around 8:30 min/km applies.
Coach tip
The course is flat and DLV-measured — good for a PB. Start blocks follow the target time you give at registration: be honest about it and you will run your own pace from the gun.
Half and full marathon share the course until about 500 m before the finish. The marathon pacers still help you: double your half marathon target and follow the matching one.
For the last 4 km or so a half marathon angel can run with you — friends or family pulling you into the stadium. Book one with your entry and agree beforehand where you will meet.
