Course description
An iconic marathon and one of the World Marathon Majors, but often very crowded. From Blackheath and Greenwich the largely flat course runs over the slightly downhill early kilometres past the Cutty Sark and Tower Bridge to the finish on The Mall. The atmosphere is legendary.
Coach tip
The first half tends to be faster and slightly downhill — despite the congestion, start under control and don't waste energy overtaking. Watch out for discarded bottles at the aid stations. The incredible crowd support carries you over the final kilometres to The Mall.
