Course description
A middle distance in the northern Black Forest around Nagold, new in 2027 and held on the same Sunday as the full distance. The swim is a mass start in the Nagold reservoir at Erzgrube, one 1.9 km lap. The fully closed bike course of about 90 km follows the full-distance route: one lap with the climbs to Mindersbach and Simmersfeld, with a turnaround in Simmersfeld. The half marathon covers three laps of about 7 km along the Nagold river and through the centre of Nagold, finishing in the Kleb town park. Swim start and finish are about 25 km apart.
Coach tip
The transition areas are about 25 km apart with no public transport: you collect your race pack on Saturday from 9 am to noon in the Kleb town park, rack your bike at Erzgrube from 12:30 to 3 pm, and your run kit stays in Nagold. On Sunday a bus leaves Nagold for the start at 7 am, only if booked with your registration. The mass start is at 8:30 am.
About 90 km on fully closed roads, with one lap of the full-distance course and its climbs to Mindersbach and Simmersfeld. Ride the climbs with a power cap so you still have enough left for the half marathon, and train long rides with sustained climbs. There is an aid station at the turnaround in Simmersfeld: water, cola, sports drink, bars, bananas and salty food.
Three laps of about 7 km along the Nagold river and through the town centre, 95 m of climbing in total: split the half marathon into its three laps. Outside support on the run course is not allowed, and a top is compulsory. Without a race licence you pay a €25 day licence on top, and there are no late entries.
