Course description
The "O-See HALF" middle distance at the Oldenstädter See lake in Uelzen, held for the 19th time in 2027: 1.9 km swim, 85 km bike, just under 20 km run. The swim is two laps of the natural lake with a short land exit. The bike course is a rolling, wind-exposed loop via Molzen, Jastorf and Oetzendorf, ridden four times with about 135 m of climbing each. The run is nine 2.2 km laps around the lake, mostly on a gravel surface.
Coach tip
Two laps of the natural lake with a short land exit. In 2026 the start was a rolling land start through a narrow channel, and your time only began at the line just before the water — no need to push to the front. After hot days wetsuits can be banned: train without one too.
Four bike laps with about 135 m of climbing each (2026 racebook): a long, exposed climb between Klein Hesebeck and Oetzendorf, then a steeper descent, plus plenty of wind. The organiser explicitly advises pacing yourself — ride the first lap deliberately easy. Drafting is not allowed; only the Ripdorf–Molzen section is fully closed, elsewhere traffic rules apply.
Nine run laps of 2.2 km around the lake, which you count yourself — too few means disqualification, so your watch should show about 19.8 km at the end. The HALF starts at 9:15 am in 2027, and there were no cut-offs in 2026. Without a race licence you pay a €25 day licence on top, and in 2026 everything was sold out by early February.
