Course description
An open-air museum: the marathon passes the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, the Vatican and countless other landmarks of Rome. The infamous Sanpietrini cobblestones on several sections challenge the legs and make the course demanding despite its largely flat profile.
Coach tip
Because of the Sanpietrini cobblestones, choose shoes with good cushioning and run there with a slightly shorter, controlled stride. The many landmarks are a pleasant distraction, but can make you euphoric too early: stick to your pace and ration your energy to the finish.
