Course description

A middle distance over 1.9 / 80 / 22 km on the Isar near Landshut, held for the 4th time in 2027. The swim is in the lake at the Gretlmühle recreation area, one 400 m and two 750 m loops. The 20 km bike lap is ridden four times, each time up onto the high bank of the Isar to the "Maximal Mountain" at Zaitzkofen with gradients of up to 15%, about 800 m of climbing in total. The run is four laps of a flat out-and-back course along the Isar. Olympic, sprint and taster races take place on the same day.

Coach tip

According to the FAQ the race uses a mass start — if you are not a strong swimmer, line up at the back or on the side. You swim one 400 m and two 750 m loops. On the middle distance wetsuits are allowed up to 24.5°C; on 20 June 2025 the water was already 24.7°C. In 2027 the race is a month earlier, but be ready for either case.

Four times the same lap with about 200 m of climbing each, every time up the "Maximal Mountain" at up to 15% — choose gearing that gets you up there under control four times. That is also where the laps only aid station is. Drafting is not allowed. In 2026 there was a cut-off before the last lap, roughly a 20 km/h average according to the organiser.

A flat out-and-back course along the Isar, turning after about 2.8 km; in 2026 the run was cut from four to three laps because of the heat. The main aid station with sponges and ice is just before the wooden bridge. Collect your race pack the day before; in 2026 the 7:25 am briefing at the swim start was compulsory. Without a DTU race licence you pay for a day licence on top (€25 according to the FAQ).
