Course description
The Heilbronn Trollinger Marathon runs a hilly loop through the vineyards of the Swabian Unterland, in 2027 for the 25th time and for the first time as early as 25 April. From the start on Badstraße the course crosses the Neckar to Sontheim and Flein, then climbs to the Haigern near Talheim, its highest point. Via Lauffen, Nordhausen, Nordheim and Klingenberg the loop returns to Heilbronn and finishes in the Frankenstadion. In total there are about 400 m of climbing on paved roads closed to traffic.
Coach tip
The profile decides this race: after about 11 km you reach the highest point at the Haigern near Talheim, and the total comes to about 400 m of climbing. Run the climbs by effort rather than pace, and do not try to win back lost seconds on the descents. Build hills into your long runs, as purely flat preparation will cost you here.
Starting places are limited, and the organiser expects to sell out before entries close on 8 April 2027. There will then be no late entries either. The race starts at 8:30 am on Badstraße and finishes in the Frankenstadion.
Race day falls earlier than usual in 2027, on 25 April. Your long runs will therefore land in winter and early spring, so plan your build accordingly and expect that it may still be cool at the start.
