Course description
A middle distance in Schleswig on the Schlei inlet, held for the 6th time in 2027: 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, 21.1 km run. The swim is a single lap in the Schlei, with a rolling start from the beach at the Louisenbad, round the turn buoy after one kilometre and back along the harbour promenade. The bike takes the B76 onto the fully closed L317 to Stenderupau, out and back three times. The run is three laps past Gottorf Castle and through the Baroque garden.
Coach tip
Rolling start at 10 am right on the beach at the Louisenbad: one 1.9 km lap in the Schlei, round the turn buoy after one kilometre, then back along the harbour promenade. The swim cut-off is 1:10 hours. Practise sighting on buoys and landmarks in open water beforehand.
Right after transition comes a neutral zone of about 50 m where the road narrows: no overtaking, slow down, or you are disqualified. After that you ride the closed L317 to Stenderupau and back three times — practise turning and accelerating again. You have 5:30 h for the swim and bike combined. Riding the course in training is forbidden.
Three run laps past Gottorf Castle and through the Baroque garden, and the organiser says the run course is being redesigned; the overall cut-off is 8 h. Race packs are only handed out on Saturday 19 June, 2–5:30 pm, you rack your bike the same day, and on race morning transition closes at 9:30 am. Without a race licence you pay a €25 day licence on top. There is no waiting list.
