Course description

The Wasserstadt Triathlon in Hannover-Limmer returns in 2027 after a break of several years, for its 15th edition, with a middle distance over 1.9 / 90 / 21.1 km. The swim is an out-and-back course in the Lindener Stichkanal canal with a deep-water start. The bike is three 30 km laps into the Calenberger Land countryside with about 460 m of climbing in total, including the Stemmer Berg, on closed roads. The run is two gently rolling laps through Limmer and Linden and around the Herrenhausen Gardens.

Coach tip

An out-and-back course in the Lindener Stichkanal with a deep-water start on the start line — the course description says 2 km, so expect a little more than 1.9 km. The middle distance starts in three groups between 9 and 10 am, and the race briefing is at 8:45 am. Practise deep-water starts and turns in open water beforehand.

Three times the 30 km lap with about 460 m of climbing in total, so you climb the Stemmer Berg three times — ride it with control. Drafting is not allowed (12 m) and you must keep to the right. Aid comes in bottles at km 0, 30, 60 and 90 (water, isotonic drink, gel) and at km 15, 45 and 75 (water, gel). You rack your bike on race morning between 7:30 and 8:45 am.

Two gently rolling run laps of just over 10.5 km with four aid stations, and laps are checked by chip and wristband. The finish closes at 5 pm, but according to the schedule the bike course closure already ends at 3:30 pm. Race packets are handed out on Saturday from 3 to 6 pm at TSV Limmer. Without a race licence you pay a €25 day licence on top.
